Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the heartbeat of Queen Anne Food Bank. With only three staff members, we rely on community members volunteering their time to help us maintain our programs.  Please contact Emily Meade, Operations Manager, emily@qafb.org for more information.

CURRENT OPENINGS

 

HIGH NEED: Meal Program Door Volunteer

  • Monday - Thursday morning shift
  • Give out lunches and serve soup to customers
  • Strong people skills required
  • Have basic food safety skills (other training provided)
  • Ability to light-lift 10 – 20 lbs.
  • Have positive attitude to serve all with respect and dignity

HIGH NEED: Backup Grocery Rescue Driver

  • Monday - Thursday morning shift
  • Rescue donated food from our local grocery store partners
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Training provided on the routes and pair with another volunteer to help load and unload

 

OTHER VOLUNTEER OPENINGS

Kitchen Prep

  • Monday - Thursday morning shift
  • Break down bulk food
  • Sort produce
  • Make sandwich fillings
  • Clean, compost
  • And whatever we might need to get us ready for the next day

Soup Maker

  • Do you enjoy cooking? We are in need of volunteers to make soup
  • Monday - Thursday morning shift
  • Using available ingredients, our soup makers provide 3-5 gallons of soup per shift
  • Creative freedom encourage

 

Farm Fresh Fridays

  • Fridays
  • In partnership with the Queen Anne Farmers Market, we receive gleaned produce
  • Help set up stand outside the food bank for customers to shop from

Garden Crew

  • Three raised garden beds need some tender love and care
  • Use your green thumb to weed, plant, harvest and help us plan the season
  • Very flexible schedule
